Gourmet Traveller Wine September 2020 Review – Scorpo Wines Aubaine Chardonnay 2018
2018 Scorpo Aubaine Chardonnay, Mornington Peninsula
Pristine scents of grapefruit, melon and lemon reveal smoky charcuterie undertones, suggestions of cinnamon and nougat, lime and coriander. Packed with vivacious fruit and backed by savoury oak, it’s generous and deeply flavoured but retains elegance and style, with a baby fat-like unctuousness tightened and focused by a refreshing acidity, and a briny, ferrous aspect at the finish. Astonishing quality and value – significantly better than many, many wines at twice its price. JO
