Scorpo is a family-owned high quality, cool climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay producer based in Merricks North on the Mornington Peninsula established in 1997.

We are committed to producing the highest quality Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines that authentically reflect site expression and purity across our single vineyard and estate wines.

Scorpo has a total of 42 acres of vine across 2 vineyard sites, both being managed in a way to transition towards organic certification., The vines range between 9 and 24 years old and planted at density from 1,666 to 10,000 per Ha. There is also an olive grove, orchard and a Homestead paddock planted with lawns and a mixture of exotic and native gardens.

JOB DESCRIPTION

SCORPO VINEYARD SUPERVISOR AND PROPERTY MANAGER

Scorpo is seeking an experienced Vineyard Supervisor/property manager to carry out a high-quality viticulture work program across vineyards/groves and maintain aesthetics of the home block. We are committed to quality, detailed work in our vineyards based on organic principals that will maximise soil and vine health and enhance site expression. The supervisor will work closely with the owner, winemaker/vineyard manager and contractors.

With multiple sites, blocks, clones and planting densities, this role demands the successful applicant be organised, hands on and be able to quickly move attention and focus between each property as the season unfolds.

A self-motivated and passionate person with a keen interest in grape-growing, machine maintenance along with good communication skills, relevant qualifications and experience will best suit this role.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Implement our viticulture work program at each site by engaging in all seasonal viticulture operations at each property in a timely manner.
  • Regular monitoring and reporting of work program outcomes, pest and disease status and soil moisture levels.
  • Lead casual staff and contractors by example, promoting a high level of safety, adaptability, motivation and engagement in each task!
  • Ensure all vineyard staff and contractors are adequately trained and competent to perform their duties to highest quality, productivity and safety standards.
  • Maintain all vineyard equipment and infrastructure to the highest standards.
  • Ensure compliance of staff, contractors and vineyard visitors to best practice wine industry bio-security environmental and safety protocols!

The applicant must have a valid driver’s license, Australian citizenship / residency and/or a valid existing Australian work visa.

A chemical user permit, first aid certificate and forklift license are necessary in this role.
